Email Gateway & SMTP Relay for Plesk

Sign your Plesk servers' outbound mail through MailGuard and deliver it from reputation-managed IP pools; strip spam and viruses from inbound mail. Compatible with Windows and Linux Plesk installations.

Why can't outbound mail from Plesk be delivered?

Plesk servers usually send mail from a single public IP. If SPF/DKIM/DMARC is missing or the IP reputation is low, the mail you send is marked as spam or rejected by Gmail, Outlook, and Yandex. MailGuard takes over Plesk's outbound traffic as a smarthost; it signs DKIM, runs content inspection, and delivers from clean IP pools.

Setup with Plesk

  • In Plesk › Tools & Settings › Mail Server Settings, select “Relay outgoing mail through SMTP relay server”.
  • Server: relay.mailguard.com.tr, port 587; check “Requires authentication” and enter your SMTP username and password.
  • Enable STARTTLS/TLS and apply. Alternatively, you can route via the Postfix main.cf.
  • For inbound filtering, point your domain's MX record to mx01/mx02.mailguard.com.tr.

For detailed, copy-paste configuration, see the docs. To test your domain, use the SPF/DKIM/DMARC tool and the mail test.

Frequently asked questions

How do I set up SMTP relay in Plesk?
In Mail Server Settings, tick the “Relay outgoing mail through SMTP relay server” option and define relay.mailguard.com.tr with port 587 and your SMTP credentials. TLS is required.
Does it work on both Windows and Linux Plesk?
Yes. Because MailGuard is an SMTP smarthost, it works independently of the MTA under Plesk (Postfix/qmail or Windows).
Do I need to configure DKIM in Plesk?
No, MailGuard signs outbound mail on your behalf. You only add a DKIM record to DNS; no signing configuration is needed on the Plesk side.
Can I manage multiple Plesk servers from one place?
Yes. Connect all your servers to the same MailGuard account to monitor outbound/inbound traffic from a single dashboard and manage your rules centrally.
Is there inbound spam filtering as well?
Yes. Once you point your MX record to MailGuard, inbound mail goes through spam, virus, and authentication (SPF/DKIM/DMARC) checks; the clean mail is delivered to your Plesk server.

Improving Email Delivery with Plesk

Plesk is a hosting control panel widely used on both Windows and Linux. Although it's strong on the email side, deliverability depends largely on the server's IP reputation and the accuracy of your DNS records. On a Plesk server that sends from a single IP, one account's unsolicited mail can drag down the whole server's reputation.

Using an SMTP relay / gateway removes this risk. MailGuard takes over Plesk's outbound mail; it signs every message with DKIM, runs it through spam scoring and rate limiting, and then delivers it from a reputation-monitored exit IP. This way, one customer's behavior doesn't affect the others, the delivery rate rises, and the blacklisting risk is minimized.

Setup is completed in a few minutes from Plesk's Mail Server Settings interface; your existing mailboxes and accounts are left untouched. On the inbound side, spam/virus filtering can also be added with an MX change — inbound and outbound security from a single platform.
